The 1854 Half Anna Stamp (Die 2 Edition) When it comes to rare Indian stamps, the Die II variety of the Half Anna Stamp issued in the year 1854 featuring a portrait of Queen Victoria is something to look out for. These are considered to be one of the first official postage stamps of India. More than 35 million stamps were produced in three varieties. 30 million stamps were produced using Die I, while only 2 million were produced using Die II in pale chignon colour. The 10 Rupees Gandhi Stamp
Those who are interested in collecting rare stamps of India will know that the 10 Rupees Gandhi postage stamp of India issued in August 1948 to celebrate the first anniversary of our country’s independence is a stand out. Stamps bearing other denominations such as 1.5 annas, 3.5 annas and 12 annas were also produced along with the 10 Rupees stamp. Only 250,000 such stamps were produced in sheets of 50. The 10 Rupees Gandhi Service Stamp These are considered to be the rarest stamps of India as only 100 such stamps were produced. They were issued exclusively for government use. These rare Indian postage stamps are sold even today by auction houses around the world for a premium amount. Scinde Dawk ½ Anna Stamp The Scinde Dawk Stamps were produced using a red sealing wax in the mid-19th century. Out of all the varieties, the ½ anna Scinde Dawk issued in 1852 is the rarest. Only 100 such old Indian stamps exist today, making them highly desirable in the world of philately. The 8 Anna Queen Victoria Stamp of 1866 These Indian rare stamps are special because they were issued during a time when 1.5 and 3.5 annas stamps were commonly found.
